Modern Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) require an immediate operational shift from reactive security to proactive, framework aligned execution. While federal standards exist to protect critical infrastructure, the most significant vulnerability gap remains in procurement. To build long term system resilience, Department of Transportation (DOT) leaders must embed cybersecurity frameworks, specifically NIST CSF 2.0 and CISA Zero Trust guidelines, directly into their RFIs and RFPs.
